I’m Ned Ashby, a Riverina local who has been researching my own family tree and kept running into the same dead ends everyone hits.
The official guides from libraries and archives are excellent at telling you where records are kept. What’s harder to find is how to use them: what to type, how to read what comes back, and what to try when the obvious search fails. That’s what this site is for.
How the guides work
- Worked examples. Each guide walks through a real search, often using the public records of well-known Australians.
- Free records first. Paid subscriptions are mentioned only where they genuinely help.
- Sources linked. Every guide links to the official records and archives it uses, so you can check for yourself.
